How to be a Bolt

How to be a Mighty Bolt

  • All Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool after the first week of practice.
  • Be ready to get in the water when your practice time starts – cap on and goggles adjusted.
  • Remember to bring your goggles to every practice!  If you have long hair, pull it back and secure it tightly.
  • Show respect to your coaches, teammates, and yourself through your words and actions.
  • When coaches are speaking, be quiet and please pay attention to their instructions.
  • Come with a smile and be ready to swim your best every practice.
  • Cheer for your teammates at swim meets.  Encourage other swimmers and have a positive attitude.  We are a team!

  • Membership to the Alanton-Baycliff Recreation Center is required to participate on the Swim Team.
  • Parents/Guardians are required to fill volunteer positions as established by the Swim Team committee. Each family is required to commit to 6 shifts per season. Failure to follow through with these shifts will result in a $50 fine per shift, and the balance must be paid before your swimmer can register for the next season.
  • Check your email daily for information concerning the swimmers and the team.  Each family also has a "Family File" at the pool that will be used to distribute ribbons, notices, newsletters, etc.
  • Please do your best to bring your swimmers to practice on time (or a little early) so they can be ready to get in the water at the start of practice.
  • Keep coaches informed of upcoming meet absences through the swim team web site.  You must declare your swimmer by Tuesday prior to the meet.  If your swimmer cannot participate in a meet, it must be noted by Tuesday.  If you forget to sign up your swimmer up for the meet, they will not be able to participate.  It takes a lot of time to coordinate 200+  swimmers into the meet events.
  • If your swimmer is sick within 24 hours of a meet you MUST call the head coach and/or a Swim Team Representative.
  • Please limit on-deck discussions with the coaches.  Contact the Team Reps or Head Coach via email with non-urgent concerns.
