Age Group Goals
The Dry Diggins Dolphin coaches have developed age group goals as a means to keep our focus on this season and to ensure we are striving to a common goal; a positive swim experience for every member of our team. With both swimmers and coaches committed to our team, an exciting and fun season is guaranteed.
6-under - First half of season
- Learn the ways of practice
- Become comfortable with coaching staff
- Teach sportsmanship
- Swim entire 25 yards without stopping
- Learn streamline
- Focus on freestyle, backstroke, and starts
- Have FUN!!!!!
By end of season
- Work on strong kicking
- Improve starts with streamline
- Improve strength of kick
- Introduce all strokes
- Understand Sportsmanship
- Have fun racing!
7/8’s - First half of season
- Swimmers learn team rules
- Become comfortable with coaching staff
- Swimmers listen while coach is talking
- Teach sportsmanship
- Work on legality of all strokes
- Focus on strength of kick
- Introduce flip turns
- Work on streamline in all strokes
By end of season
- Focus on technique for all strokes
- Flip turns always used
- Improved starts and finishes
- Understand how to use the pace clock
- Streamline off every wall
- Have fun competing for the TEAM
9/10’s - First half of season
- Swimmers get to know coaches and team rules
- Technique drills for all strokes introduced
- Focus on strong kicking
- Improve starts and turns
- Streamline in all strokes and off all walls
- Focus on legal IM
- Learn the pace clock
- Improved sportsmanship
- Have fun at practices!!!
