Welcome, Greater Cleveland High School Athletes!

Cleveland Foundry Juniors is not a part of any one high school. The competitive 9th - 12th Men's & Women's Team recruits athletes from all high schools in the Greater Cleveland area. Similar to the Cavaliers, Indians, and Browns, our athletes proudly represent Cleveland on the national stage against competitors from California to Vermont, Seattle to Miami. Rowing for Foundry Juniors is a privilege and an honor. We're looking for high school students with the willingness to try something new and the grit to make it happen. Sound like you? Read on.

The mission of the Juniors Program is to provide a competitive rowing experience to positively impact the mind, body and spirit of young athletes in the Greater Cleveland Community through discipline, integrity, honesty, and teamwork.

At Foundry Juniors, there are many ways to be involved with rowing. Athletes can choose any season or program that works for their interests and schedules. Athletes can participate in any (or all) rowing seasons each year.

Registration for Spring 2018 is now open here!

Seasons

There are four rowing seasons per year.

Summer: A great time to learn to row, and for experienced rowers to further develop their skills.

Fall: One of two competitive racing seasons, focused on longer distance endurance races to develop an aerobic base for the spring. Races are between 3 and 5 miles long.

Winter: A training session to maintain physical fitness and conditioning. There is no racing during winter.

Spring: This is the other competitive season which culminates with Regional Championships. This is the sprint season, with races ranging between 1500 and 2000 meters.

Foundry Juniors Competitive Team (5 Days a week + Seasonal Travel for Competitive Regattas)

Foundry Juniors offers community-wide rowing programs for high school age athletes, known as Juniors or Youth in the world of rowing. The competitive youth program is made up of young men and women from the Greater Cleveland area. Rowing is a year-round sport consisting of fall, winter, spring, and summer seasons. Year-round participation is encouraged for serious athletes, although some of our rowers pursue other sports during one rowing season. Generally, students start rowing in our fall season; however, youth can start in the winter and early spring as well. First-year rowers are considered novice regardless of age or grade; rowers beyond their first year are considered varsity. No prior experience is necessary!

Athletes learn the art of rowing at the highest level, as well as develop lifelong leadership and team building skills. The competitive team is dedicated to improving their rowing skills and competing at a high level. Within a strong team environment, the rowers will challenge themselves both physically and mentally.
