Annual Awards Gala

The Annual Awards Gala provides our Association with an opportunity to acknowledge our athletes past performance and to thank sponsors and volunteers for their continued support and partnership.

The Swimmers 2016 Performance Awards were presented by Bailey Weather, CIASA’s Technical Director and Brett Fraser.  Lara and Geoffrey Butler were names Top Male and Female Swimmer and David Ebanks was named the Top Master Swimmer.  Most Improved Male and Female Aged Group winners included Jon Bodden and Avery Lambert.

Swimmers achieving points in the Star Programme, a point system based on international swim standards included Finn Bishop, Stefano Bonati and Corey-Frederick Westerborg. For the girls, these included Avery Lambert, Allyson Belfonte and Stephanie Royston.

The swimmer’s achievements at the 2016 CARIFTA Swimming Championships were also recognized.  Sabine Ellison was awarded the Top Carifta Performer for her brilliant performance.  Sabine competed outstandingly at the championhips achieving 7 medals. 

Michael Lockwood and Ian Lambert, CIASA’s President and Vice President respectively presented the volunteers awards.  Michelle Bailey, Sandy Hew and Pastor Randy von Kanel were recognised as Volunteer of the Year, Open Water Volunteer of the Year and for Service to the Community, respectively.

Lockwood commented, “We are so fortunate to have a wonderful group of volunteers.  These four recipients have done so much for swimming over the years and we thank them for their contribution.  Without our many volunteers we would not be able to offer such amazing opportunities for our swimmers.  We strive to increase these opportunities and without the support of our volunteers would not be able to achieve this.  This accompanied with the partnership of our sponsors enables us meet our many goals.  We look forward to continuing and expanding this relationship in the future.  I also would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our swimmers on their many achievements including this past year.”
