The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international elite multi-sport event for talented young athletes across the world aged 15-18 years. The sports programme is based on that of the Olympic Games and held every 4 years with 28 sports featured on the summer programme.
The Games also hosts cultural exchange programmes and opportunities for participants to meet Olympic athletes and learn about Olympic values and other cultures.
Cayman Island swimming representatives at the inaugual 2010 Games were Lara Butler competing in the 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly and Seiji Groome swimming in the 200m breaststroke and 200m IM.
