Cindy Jamieson is an expert in helping athletes achieve peak performance through diet as well as training. We will continue to leverage her knowledge to educate our athletes on proper nutrition and healthy eating strategies that will get them better results in school and in the pool.  

A vital part of training is nutritional balance. Meals and snacks should be a combination of:

  • Protein
  • Healthy fat = avocado, coconut oil, olives, olive oil, nut butters
  • Complex carbohydrates = fruits/veggies

And don't forget: Sleep is as important as diet. You need 9-1/4 to 10 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period. Napping in the afternoon helps your body produce melatonin, which aids in recovery. A Stanford study of swimmers found that increasing their sleep to 10 hours a night posted faster reaction, turn, and finish times.
