Parent Volunteers are a vital part of OSSSC – the club is run 100% by volunteers and without each family stepping up we would not be able to succeed. In order that each family completes their volunteer commitment, a deposit of $200 per family will be collected at registration, and volunteering completed by each family will be tracked.
The number of volunteer points required is based upon the Group your swimmer is allocated to. If you have more than one swimmer, you are required to achieve the points for the highest group your children are registered into.
The points requirement for the 2018 season are as follows:
Group 1 15 points
Group 2 20 points
Group 3 20 points
Group 4 25 points
Group 5 25 points
Ways to acquire volunteer points:
- join the board of directors
- take on a specific volunteer role (ei. photo coordinator, casino coordinator)
- volunteer at our Okotoks Swim Meet (ei. food manager, timer, ribbons coordinator)
- volunteer at another swim meet (ei. timer, stroke and turn judge, food runner)
The specific tasks and their associated points that need to be completed each season can be found here. A more detailed description of each of the volunteer positions can be found on the job description webpage.
For more information on club specific volunteer roles, please contact any of the Board of Directors and they will happily discuss it with you.
For Okotoks swim meet volunteer roles, these are all for our own hosted meet. To sign up for these roles, please visit the Event page and you will be able to sign up for individual roles by shift (Friday pm, Saturday am, Saturday pm).
Additionally, there will be opportunities to officiate at other meets during the season (each position requires a certification course to be completed, ei. timer or stroke and turn judge), managed by our officials coordinator. In order to volunteer for these roles, please visit the specific Events tab, under swim meets to sign up.
Please note that for external meets, signing up to volunteer is not a guarantee that you will be selected by the other swim team to volunteer. We are asked to put forward names and then they choose based on their needs for that day.
