Far Westerns Recap - 2019

Far Westerns Recap

Reno Aquatic Club had a very successful weekend of swimming in Santa Clara! We had team records, several best times, multiple second swims, and new time standards. Overall, the weekend was another step in the right direction for the team. Here's the meet recap:

High Point

In a very competitive battle for the 13-14 girls high point award, RENO’s Emma Karam ended up winning high point by .5 points. Over the course of the weekend, Emma won two events, finished 2nd in four events, and 4th in one event. Way to go!

And congratulations to Angelo Aramini and Sam Lindley for participating in their first Far Westerns. Angelo swam best times in 2 of his 3 events, and Sam had some gutsy performances after dealing with pneumonia just a few weeks ago.

Far Westerns is one of the fastest age-group meets on the west coast. Swimmers from Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Iowa, Nevada, Oregon, and Utah were competing. RENO has a total of 18 swimmers with Far Western time standards (Lydia Dyer, Julia KennedyMarni Kraemer, Ella Palmer, Delaney Skuse and Nicole Van Geel all had cuts but didn't attend), and I look forward to more swimmers qualifying over the next year!
