Hello Flyers! My name is Anthony Portare, and I am excited to be your new swim coach. I started my swimming career at the age five in the NVSL, and fell in love with both the sport and the atmosphere of NVSL swimming. I swam competitively through college, after which I coached USS Swimming for five years, and have coached summer league swim teams for a total of 15 years. I’ve been involved in swimming my entire life, and attribute a lot of who I am today, as a swimmer and a coach, to the teams I was a part of.
After finishing college at Marymount University, I began teaching in Fairfax County and went on to obtain my Master’s Degree from George Mason University. I currently teach seventh and eighth grade math at Robinson Secondary School, where I’ve been for nine years.
I am excited about the upcoming season and look forward to continuing to build on the tradition we have at Fairfax Station, having fun, and creating strong relationships with all members of the team. Let’s get ready to have a great season! Go Flyers!
