2021 Long Course YMCA Festival

Summit Area Y had an incredibly successful week at the Long Course Y Festival in Carey, NC. We had 7 athletes swim in 27 individual events and go a best time in every single one! The SAY finished 19th out of 43 participating YMCAs.

-Nicole Sim had a successful first nationals dropping a combined 12 seconds off of the 100 back, 200 free, and 100 fly.

-Caitlin Fagan finaled in both the 100 and 200 fly; and with an amazing start dropped a full 3 seconds in her 50 free.

-Floyd Conlin finaled in every one of his events, getting 13th in 3 of them. He also dropped a combined 53 seconds in all his events

-Sarina Cusumano injected some great energy on the 3rd day of the meet either best times in the 100 fly and 200 breast, she also earned the diamond seal award with her 200 backstroke. We were lucky enough to hear Sarina perform the national anthem during the Saturday night finals.

-Will Hedges finaled in 2 of his 4 events earning the highest place of the meet for our team dropping over 4 seconds to go 3rd in the 200 breaststroke.

-Melanie Nunn finished off her last nationals dropping a combined 12 seconds in all her event and made finals at nationals for the first time in her final event of the 200 fly.

-Lizzy Washburn had an extremely successful meet finaling in every event dropping a combined 40 seconds across all her races. Lizzy also earned the most podium time scoring in the top 8 in 3 of her events.
