Dryland Training

Below is a note from our certified Dryland coach.  Any questions/concerns about Dryland Training should be directed to Coach Loew or Coach Heaton.

The Makos Dryland Program is an age appropriate strength and conditioning program that is designed with drills for swimmers to supplement their swim practice.  Two main goals exist in a good dryland training program: injury prevention and performance improvement. Swimming places a great deal of stress on the body, despite it being a “non-contact” sport. A dryland program that includes weight training, development of core strength and stabilization, targeted shoulder injury prevention exercises, and appropriate recovery practices designed to reduce and prevent injury is critical.   At the present time, we only offer dryland training for our Gold and Platinum swimmers.
Swimmers will need to wear comfortable, athletic-style clothing and sneakers for all dryland training. When coming to dryland practices, swimmers should be respectful to their coaches and teammates, as well as bring a positive attitude and ready to work. Most importantly we want the swimmers to have fun!
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thank you and have a great day!
