JUNIOR OLYMPIC I

Location: College of the Canyons

Coach: MIkaela Smith

 

The Junior Olympic I Group is made up of 8-11 year olds who have achieved Junior Olympic Time Standards.  Athletes in this group must be highly motivated and ready to contribute to the team environment. Practice is designed to continue to introduce fundamental skills while training at a level that will prepare the swimmers for moving up through the JO program.  More advanced start, stroke, and turn techniques are introduced.   Core and strength building dryland is also included.

 

Advancement Criteria for JO1 to JO2:
  • 80% Attendance
  • Achievement of at least two 11-12 blue time standard
  • Mastery of AG2/JO1 curriculum
  • Successful Completion of 13 x 100 freestyle @ 1:40 averaging 1:30 or better
  • Successful Completion of 10 x 25 kick @ 40, averaging 25 or faster
  • Successful Completion of 11-12 IMR events (200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM)

JUNIOR OLYMPIC II

Location:  Castaic

The Junior Olympic II Group is made up of 11-12 year old girls and 11-13 year olds who have achieved Junior Olympic Time Standards. The practice is designed to maintain fundamental skills while training at a level that will prepare the swimmers for our Senior programs.  More advanced start, stroke, and turn techniques are introduced. Core and strength building dryland is also included.
