The coaches select the meets our team attends based on the season, annual, and quadrennial plans. We expect swimmers to attend as many meets as possible so they have multiple opportunities each season to swim a variety of events and see continual improvement over the course of time. This guide will help you understand which meets your swimmer is eligible for and should attend if their training group is attending:
Swim Squad meets: These meets are very informal and the majority are at Miraleste. The main emphasis of these meets is skill mastery, self-reliance, and learning meet etiquette. Groups that attend these meets are: Swim Squad, SA1, SA2.
"BRW" meets: These large meets are meets for all levels. The 'BRW' refers to the time standards that are eligible to compete, meaning Blue, Red, and White. Per SCS rules, teams are designated to a "committee" charged with providing BRW age-group meets. Teams must compete in the BRW meets their committee hosts. ZAP is part of the Pacific Committee. Groups that attend these meets are: SA2, IM Group, AG1, AG2, Sr1, Sr2, Sr3.
Closed Invitational: When 4 or more teams develop meets outside their committee the meets are called a "Closed Invitational" because they "closed" to all other teams other than the teams organizing the meet. If only 2 or 3 teams develop the meet it is called a dual or tri meet. Groups that attend these meets are: SA1, SA2, IM Group, AG1, AG2, Sr1, Sr2, Sr3.
Intrasquad Meets: These meets are just ZAP. Groups that attend these meets are: SA1, SA2, IM Group, AG1, AG2, Sr1, Sr2, Sr3.
