Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) is a comprehensive, competitive swim program for
young people, and has been providing swimming instruction and competition since its
inception in 1951. The club is organized and supported by parents from Oak Ridge,
Knoxville, Norris, Kingston, Lenoir City and surrounding areas as a non-profit affiliated
with USA Swimming nationally and Southeastern Swimming regionally. Managed by a
Board of Directors elected from parent members, ACAC has trained swimmers at every
level of accomplishment. Our swimmers have represented numerous universities, among
them Tennessee, Stanford, Texas, Minnesota, Kentucky, Penn State, Indiana State,
Auburn, Michigan, and Florida. ACAC seeks to develop the individual into a complete
athlete and to encourage the swimmer as a maturing person and strives to be responsive
to family objectives for young people.
MISSION STATEMENT - To build well-rounded youths in a supportive and competitive
swimming environment, emphasizing team unity, leadership, hard work, sportsmanship,
and fun.
|
ETHICS STATEMENT - ACAC is committed to meeting the highest ethical standards in
interactions with all swimmers, parents, and others. To fulfill this commitment, each
member of the organization shall assist in providing an environment that supports honesty,
integrity, respect, trust, responsibility, and citizenship of each swimmer. While each
swimmer must contribute to the creation and maintenance of such an environment, the
coaching staff and Board of Directors assumes the overall responsibility for fostering an
atmosphere that will bring out the best in each person.
SWIM PROGRAMS OVERVIEW
ACAC Competitive Swimming: We teach and perfect all four competitive strokes, and
emphasize the importance of streamlining, kicking, body position and body awareness.
Our stroke progressions allow athletes to sequentially build upon mastered skills. The
emphasis in the early stage of participation will be placed on developing technique,
skills and a love for the sport. In the later years, a more demanding physical and
psychological challenge will be introduced into the training program. Our swimmers acquire
and hone skills that promote lifelong achievement in all arenas: teamwork, sportsmanship,
focus, and goal setting. Our athletes gain enhanced self-esteem and self-reliance through
every conquered hurdle.
