The annual "Swim-A-Thon" that is held at the Oak Ridge Civic Center is an opportunity to raise funds for your annual $400 fundraising dues.
Basically, your swimmer(s) will reach out to friends, relatives, and the community to try to raise money. The concept is that money will be donated for each lap swam. However, often people will just donate a flat amount of money. The younger swimmers will typically swim 100 laps, while the older will swim 200. Each will work it out with the coaches but should report their goal to people they are raising money from. It is a great workout, great opportunity to help with swimming costs, a great challenge and achievement for the swimmers, and (believe it or not) great fun!
