Year-Round Competitive Training Groups

The Panama City Swim Team has also grown and improved in the area of local, regional and national competition.  Our goal is for swimmers from all around Bay County to join us in our effort to become the greatest team in the Panhandle region.  Then, once we achieve that goal, we hope to move forward as one of the best in the entire Southeastern LSC.  While our numbers continue to grow, our ambitions continue to rise.  The swimmers in the following groups will not only learn how to become great swimmers that train hard, they will acquire values that will teach them to be model citizens and upstanding people throughout the rest of their lives.

Novice Group (Frank Brown Park and Gulf Coast State College)
This introductory level is offered 4 workouts per week for 1 hour each day.  Additional skills tests will also be offered.  In this group we work on the basic skills for each of the four competitive strokes, as well as teach them how to start, turn, and push off of the walls correctly.  Our philosophy is to make learning these skills fun.  So rather than separating the "skill learning" from the "games", we strive to make every practice fun for these great future Tsunamis!
Recommended Equipment:  Water Bottle, Fins
Recommended Practice Attendance: 2-3 practices per week

Age Group 1 (Frank Brown Park and Gulf Coast State College):
This level is offered 5 workouts per week for 1 hour and 15 minutes each day.  Once a young swimmer has learned the basic skills, they are ready for further development at the competitive level.  At this level, the swimmers learn to become more competitive with their swimming and compete in all 4 strokes legally.  At this level, we introduce basic dryland and stretching for 5-10 min each practice.  Swimmers in this group will be expected to attend all local swim meets and racing opportunities.
Recommended Equipment: Water Bottle, Fins, and Mesh Bag
Recommended Attendance: 3-4 practices per week

Age Group 2 (Frank Brown Park and Mosley High School)
This level is offered a total of six workouts per week (5 days a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes each day, and for 2 hours on Saturdays).  The focus of this competitive swim group is on building efficient and repeatable stroke mechanics.  We will introduce aerobic training, perform advanced racing skills, as well as perform dryland and stretching for 20-30 minutes 3 times each week.   Swimmers in this group are expected to compete at all recommended swim meets and championships.
Recommended Equipment: Water Bottle, Fins, Kickboard, Snorkel and Mesh Bag
Recommended Attendance: 4-5 practices per week

Junior Group (Frank Brown Park and Mosley High School):
