2018 Summer Splashes Swim Team

The Summer Splashes Swim Team is an 8 week program that gives your child the opportunity to work with the BEST coaches in the Panhandle! With a GREAT Coach to Swimmer ratio, Summer Splashes also allows your child to participate in "Fun Meets."

Summer Splashes Swim Team operates out of Frank Brown Park Aquatic Center and Mosley High School.  Mosley High School will be home to all Summer Lessons!  Summer Lessons is offered in 4 week sessions and 2 days a week at many convenient times.  PCST Lessons will increase your child's comfort level in the water as well as prepare them to join Summer Splashes Swim Team next year!

HOW TO REGISTER:
We use online registration for both Summer Splashes Swim Team and Summer Lessons.  When registering you will be able to select your location (Frank Brown Park or Mosley High School) and class times.  Please remember that Summer Splashes Swim Team requires each swimmer to be able to swim at least 5 yards of proper freestyle, and Summer Lessons requires each swimmer to be comfortable getting in the water without his or her parent.

FREQUENTLY ASKED SUMMER SPLASHES QUESTIONS:

Registration:
Q: Is there a discount offered to families with multiple children?
A: YES! The cost for Summer Splashes is $275 for the 1st swimmer, $225 for the 2nd, and $175 for each additional child. There is no discount available for Summer Lessons

Locations:
Q: Where is Frank Brown Park?
A: Frank Brown Park is located on U.S Highway 98 in Panama City Beach. The address of the pool is 16200 Panama City Beach Parkway, Panama City Beach, FL. 32413.

Q: Where is Mosley High School?
A: Mosley High School is located off of US Highway 77 in Lynn Haven.  The address is 501 Mosley Drive, Lynn Haven, FL 32444.

Practices:
Q: Is practice mandatory every day?
A: NO! Although we encourage full participation to assist in developing your technique, you can attend practices as little or as much as you'd like! We realize that many families go on summer vacations, and the children have other activities to participate in!

Q: Can we attend both the Morning and Afternoon practices?
A: Unfortunately not. You must attend the session that you registered for. This is because the Summer Splashes program is designed around our GREAT coach to swimmer ratio. If swimmers are allowed to attend any session, we lose that wonderful benefit.

Q: What happens if it rains?
A: If you are a Florida resident, you know that it can be sunny one minute, and raining the next during the summer. Although we experience inconsistent summer showers, we suggest bringing your child to practice regardless! We will NOT get in the pool during thunderstorms, heavy rain, or lightning.  Instead we will have fun and beneficial activities for the swimmers to do regardless of the weather.  "Make-up days", however, will not be available

Q: What should I bring to practice?
A: Your swim suit, goggles, and a towel! Both boys and girls swim suits should be form fitting. Goggles are not required, but HIGHLY recommended. All swimming is done with your face in the water...not wearing goggles will be detrimental to your eyes as well as being very distracting when learning the proper technique.

Q: Can I stay and watch my child's practice?
A: Yes.  You are welcome to stay and watch your child's practice, however we suggest that you find a spot that you can see your child but your child can not see you.  It is important for each child's focus to be on his or her coach and not on you during practice and lessons.

Fun Meets:
Q: What are the "Fun Meets?"
A: The fun meets are designed to be similar to the swim meets your child would attend if they were currently part of the Panama City Swim Team. These meets provide your child with the experience of competing in a swim meet, while in a more laid-back atmosphere. The swimmers will only be competing against other Summer Splashes team mates, as well as swimmers from PCST's novice program. All children competing are beginning level swimmers.

Q: How do I know if my child is ready to participate in a "Fun Meet?"
A: If your child is on the Summer Splashes Swim Team, they are ready to participate in the meet! For all of our "Squirt" and "Ripples" swimmers, we will have coaches IN THE WATER with them during their "races" at the meet.

Q:  Will Summer Lessons be competing in the Fun Meets?
A:  Summer Lessons will not be competing in Fun Meets.  The goal of our Summer Lessons program is to increase each child's comfort level in the water as well as provide enough swimming experience so that they may join the Summer Splashes Swim Team next year!

Lessons:
 Q:  What are Summer Lessons?
A:  Summer Lessons is a new division of Summer Splashes meant for children who are comfortable in the water, but not advanced enough to enter the Squirts group.  Summer Lessons will increase the child's comfort level in the water as well as teach them the basics needed for swimming.  Summer Lessons operate similar to PCST Spring Lessons and Fall Lessons.

Q: How many lessons are offered each session?
A:  When you register for each session of PCST Lessons you have signed up for 8 available classes.  These classes meet twice a week for 4 weeks or once a week for 8 weeks during the days and time slot you selected.

Q:  Can I bring my child to any days or times offered?
A:  No, when you register for PCST Lessons you are selecting the days and time you will be attending.  Due to limited class sizes and instructor to swimmer ratios we can not let swimmers attend days or times they are not registered for.

Q:  My schedule unexpectedly changed; can my child come to a different class?
A:  We understand that schedule conflicts can occur without notice.  While we can not offer class changes for an absence, if you schedule is permanently changing we will do our best to reschedule you to a new class time for the remainder of the session based on remaining class openings.

Misc:
Q: What can I do when Summer Splashes is over?
A: After being on the Summer Splashes Swim Team, your child will, in most cases, be ready to move on to the Panama City Swim Team. PCST practices throughout the entire year, attends swim meets in the Southeastern region, and has all levels of swimmers.

Q: Are we allowed to stay at the Frank Brown Park Aquatic Center and use the pool when done with our practice?
A:  No, if you wish to stay and use the pool you will need to exit and pay the daily admission fees to re-enter.

Summer Splashes combines the fundamentals of competitive swimming with the thrills of being a part of a swim team to make for a very exciting way to learn to swim! Your child will be taught by the best swimmers and coaches in the county and will make new friends, learn swimming skills and have a terrific summer experience as a "Tsunami" on the Panama City Swim Team!!

Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions, comments, or concerns!

See you at the pool!

Q: What should I bring to practice?
A: Your swim suit, goggles, and a towel! Both boys and girls swim suits should be form fitting. Goggles are not required, but HIGHLY recommended.
