Group 1 - Coach - Alec Murphy-Abrams
Daily Training: 30-60 minutes, 5 times per week
Attendance: Strongly encouraged to attend at least 3 times per week
Practice Times: Mon-Friday 5:00 - 6:00 PM
Goals: The Mini Marlins training group is our introductory training group for athletes age 5-10 years old. Practice is a technique focused approach, in which young athletes begin to program essential stroke motor skills for future success in the sport! Additionally, athletes will learn how to function within a workout environment (use of a pace clock, lane etiquette, etc.).
Admittance Requirements: Entry for this group is being able to side breathe for a length of freestyle, backstroke, some knowledge of breaststroke kick and butterfly, and a desire to learn!
Progression to Group 2 Requirements: May include the following, but ultimately up to Coach discretion!
- Junior Olympic Qualifying Times (Age 9 and above)
- Excellent Attendance
- Dedication to the Sport
- Commitment to help Teammates
Dryland: gentle stretching, kinesthetic awareness, games
Equipment: equipment listed below must be purchased before the start of the season and must be brought to every practice. Check with the coaches for purchasing sources:
- Marlins Cap
- mesh equipment bag
- water bottle
- Kickboard and fins
- Kick stick
- shoes, shorts and shirt for dry land
