Practice Groups

Turlock Aquatic Club USA Swimming Program offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of Turlock Aquatic Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.


Novice Group

This is our entry level group for athletes ages 5 and up.  Athletes in this group must be able to swim 25 yards of nonstop freestyle with breathing.  All competitive strokes will be introduced and taught as well as turns and racing starts.  
Novice  Coach: rotating
Workout Days/Times: Monday-Thursday 5:30 - 6:30


Age Group

From the novice group athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group must be able to swim all four strokes  legally and have knowledge of each turn associated with each stroke.  Fine tuning of strokes and turn technique will be focused on in this group.  There will also be the addition of work out sets designed to improve speed and endurance.

Pre-Senior Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 11 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete's development.

Workout Days/Times: Monday-Thursday 5:30-7:00

Senior Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 12 (girls) or 13 (boys). Athletes entering the Senior group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Senior group are directed towards making their Sierra Nevada Swimming Motivational Standard Times.

High School Pre Season Swimming 

High school preseason swimming is open to all students currently enrolled in a local area high school. This program is committed to giving high school swimmers a jump start on their aerobic fitness, and to refine their technical skills before the beginning of high school swimming.
