Welcome to the CA Competitive Team!

Let’s get started!  Begin your registration for the CA competitive team.

For all group placement of swimmers, the Head Coach has final say on who trains where and why according to training plans built by the Carolina Aquatics Coaching Staff.

For all swimmers joining Carolina Aquatics or progressing through group placement, our overall objective is to position the swimmer for success.

Intro CA

Intro CA is our entry level TEAM group that introduces young athletes to the world of competitive swimming! Piranha

This group builds upon the fundamental swimming skills learned in the Intro CA group. More advanced drills and training techniques are introduced progressively to improve overall coordination and efficiency in water. Swimmers are encouraged to attend practice regularly and participate in swim meets. Competitive goals include completing longer swims and sets, achieving state and sectional qualifying standards, continuing to master the four competitive strokes, and gaining proficiency in turns, starts, and finishes.

  • Ages: 8-11
  • Attendance: Practices are offered up to 6 days per week. Expected attendance is 4 days per week.
  • Monthly Dues:  $120
  • Fundraising Obligation (paid once for the entire year): $200*

Barracuda

This group maintains an emphasis on stroke technique while incorporating more aerobic endurance, dryland exercises, and racing skills. Barracuda swimmers must show competency in all four strokes as well as demonstrate a respectful and positive attitude at practices and swim meets to all team members. We encourage and teach a lifelong love and appreciation of the sport as we introduce this group to more rigorous training, preparing them to compete at the State and Sectional level.

  • Ages: 11-14
  • Attendance: Practices are offered up to 6 days per week. Expected attendance is 5 days per week with swimmers attending Saturday practices.
  • Monthly Dues:  $130
  • Fundraising Obligation (paid once for the entire year): $200*

Senior 3

The Senior 3 group is a fitness group with focus on keeping in shape and learning/reinforcing basic skills.  These swimmers will be permitted to swim in meets, but Senior 3 is mainly a High-School/Summer League prep group. This is not the group for serious, competitive swimmers, but more of a way to stay in the sport if you have multiple other activities and true, competitive swimming is not for you.

  • Ages: 13 and up
  • Attendance: There are 4 practices offered per week with no attendance policy.
  • Monthly Dues: $105
  • Fundraising Obligation (paid once for the entire year): $200*

Senior 2

The Senior 2 group is a competitive group that focuses on higher level skills and training that are learned in the Barracuda group.  This is where real dedicated senior level swimming starts.  The goal for this group is to be competitive on the State and Sectional level with the desire to advance to the Senior 1 group.

  • Ages: 13 and up
  • Attendance: There are 6 practices per week offered, and swimmers need to make 5 out of 6, with a priority on swimming Saturday mornings.  Swimmers in this group will have the option to make up a workout on Tuesday/Thursday mornings if needed, but only if absolutely needed.  Dedicated Senior 2 swimmers may do doubles with coach’s permission.  There is no attendance policy in this group, which means that swimmers can attend less than 5 workouts per week, but they will not be considered for Senior 1 unless they attend at least 5 out of 6 (preferably 6 out of 6) workouts per week.
  • Cost:  $150
  • Fundraising Obligation (paid once for the entire year): $300*

Senior 1

The Senior 1 group is a highly competitive group with the focus on scoring at State and Sectionals while progressing toward Junior National qualifying times. This is a serious, goal-oriented, competitive group focusing on training hard and swimming fast.  In Senior 1, swimming needs to be the athlete's #1 priority next to academics.

  • Ages: 14 and up. Must have an invitation from the Head Coach to be in this group.
  • Attendance Policy:  A minimum of 6 out of 8 workouts per week are required, with the goal of moving up to the High-Performance group when they are ready. Swimmers who do not make these standards will be moved to the Senior 2 group.  Swimmers need to attend 6 to 7 practices per week to be considered for High Performance.
  • Monthly Dues:  $160
  • Fundraising Obligation (paid once for the entire year): $300*

High-Performance

This group's focus is exactly what the name states—to perform at the highest levels possible in USA Swimming.  The goal is to achieve Junior National qualifying times, and swimmers must want to qualify for Senior Nationals and Olympic Trials.  Swimming needs to be the #1 priority for this group next to academics.  Swimmers in the High-Performance group need to be very driven and intrinsically motivated for success.  Training hard with a positive attitude and swimming fast are fun for swimmers at this level. Swimmers in this group are considered team leaders and role models for the rest of the team, both on and off the pool deck.

  • Ages: 14 and up; requires 3 Senior Sectional qualifying times.  Must have an invitation from the Head Coach to be in this group.
  • Attendance Policy:  Swimmers in this group need to make a minimum of 7 out of 8 practices per week (the preference being 8 out of 8 practices per week).  Swimmers that do not make a minimum of 7 out of 8 practices per week will be moved to the Senior 1 group.
  • Monthly Dues:  $170
  • Fundraising Obligation (paid once for the entire year): $300*

* Fundraising obligations are per swimmer. Annual fundraising obligations are capped at $500 per family. There are multiple opportunities offered throughout the year to meet this obligation.
