Coach Charlie McCanless

Charlie McCanless began his swimming career at the age of 6 and swam his way through college, finishing at East Carolina University as a Varsity Record Holder and Team Captain.  While in Greenville, NC he worked for Greenville Country Club as Head coach and after graduation, he worked for SwimMac Carolina.  Following a move to Boston, Charlie worked for Charles River Aquatics as Senior Group Coach and a primary Age Group Coach.  He's worked with all ages and abilities from Junior National Level Qualifiers to children brand new to the sport.  Charlie is still a competitor himself and a proud US Masters Swimmer.

Coach Moni Hill 

West Asheville Waves Head Coach 

Coach Moni Hill is a life-long swimmer and coach with over a decade of coaching experience. Moni helped start and coach the West Asheville Waves as a place for her kids to swim in 2005. She began coaching with Asheville Swim Club in 2008 when her kids started swimming year-round. She's passionate about helping young swimmers master the building blocks of competitive swimming. 

Coach Cora Dodson

Coach Cora grew up in Waynesville NC and graduated in 2016 from Tuscola High School. She has been swimming competitively for 12 years. Of those 12 years 10 of them were with SMAC. Coach Cora is a rising junior at Lenoir-Rhyne University. While at school, she's majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology and she enjoys being a member of the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Swim Team. Cora works at the school as a lifeguard and swim instructor. This will be Cora's 5th summer working with a Summer Swim Team! 

Coach Erin Butler


Coach Erin has been swimming for 12 years, with Asheville Swim Club. Swimming is her greatest passion and coaching is her way of sharing that passion with others. Just graduating from High School, Erin is excited about continuing her swim career at the University of Findlay in the fall of 2018.Erin is also a certified lifeguard,  Coach Erin enjoys everything that has to do with water!

Coach Skye Lewis

Coach Skye Lewis is from Cincinnati, Ohio and will be a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Also a member of the UNCA Women's team, Coach Skye is currently majoring in Psychology with hopes of becoming a Physician Assistant one day.  Growing up, swimming has always been an important aspect of her life. She began swimming at the age of 7 and instantly discovered a love for the sport. She could not imagine my life without it. Coach Skye is a certified in lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED.  She's pumped about bringing her enthusiasm to the team!
