Olympus Aquatics offers private coaching, semi-private coaching, and group lessons.  Private Coaching is a great way to see improvement and the investment lasts a lifetime.

Tom Thorum (TT), Head Coach

Tom has been teaching private lessons for over 30 years.  Tom’s ‘eye’ for swimming technique and ability to communicate swimming corrections is unparalleled.  Tom has provided Private Coaching and Instruction to one National Age Group Record holder, two Olympic Trials Swimmers, one US Open Qualifier, several Junior National Qualifiers, one Ironman World Record holder, multiple D1 college swimmers, and hundreds of novice swimmers young and old. 
 
TT Private Coaching:  One-On-One coaching to specifically target a swimmer’s unique needs and objectives.
Class Size:       1 swimmer (may be shared with another swimmer)
Cost:                $45/30 Minutes, $80/60 Minutes
 
TT Competitive Techniques:  This class groups swimmers by age and ability by invitation only.  The group is limited to Western Zone qualifiers or above.  The lesson focuses on a swimmer’s specific advanced level technical skills.

Cost:                $15/30 Minutes 
 
TT Combination:  This class groups swimmers by age and ability.  Focus is on stroke mechanics, competitive starts, competitive turns, and the specific needs of the group.

TT Stroke Development: Focus is on the proper stroke mechanics for competitive butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle.

TT Intermediate:  Focus is on the foundations of competitive freestyle, backstroke, and the flip-turn skills needed to train with a competitive swim team.

Zofi Niemczak (ZN), Associate Head Coach

Born and raised in Alburquerque, New Mexico she swam her first two years in college at the University of California, Fresno and broke 7 school records as well as winning the 200 Fly at the Mountain West Conference Championship.  Zofi went on to swim in Poland for their National Team before transferring to the University of Utah to finish her swimming career and get a degree in kinesiology and nutrition.  Zofi has always had a passion for swimming and seeing kids find their passion for swimming too!

Bridger Sink (BS), Senior Swimmer

Bridger Sink has been swimming with Olympus Aquatics for 6 years. He is a multi individual and relay state champion at the age group, senior, and high school level. He was the 100 M Breaststroke champion at the 2021 Senior Zone Championship and a Junior National qualifier.  He competed at Junior Nationals in 2021. Bridger is looking to swim D1 in college next year and is looking to finish out his high school career strong this year. He has taught swim lessons to new swimmers at Evergreen Swim and tennis club for the past two years and enjoys teaching swimmers to improve at all levels of swimming.

Matt Quackenbush (MQ), Senior Swimmer

Matt is a senior at Olympus High School and a Captain of the Olympus High School Swim Team. The Olympus High School Swim team has won two consecutive 5A State Championships. Matt has been swimming competitively for 5 years and is a skilled swim instructor.  He is a Sectional / Junior National level distance freestyle and butterfly specialist but well versed in all competitive techniques.  Matt intends to pursue swimming in college at the Division 1 level. He has taught swim lessons and coached pre-comp for 2 years at Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center. Several of the swimmers he coached and taught have landed spots on the swim team.

Evan VanBrocklin (EV), Senior Swimmer

Evan VanBrocklin has been swimming for 12 years, 8 of those with Olympus Aquatics. He is a senior at Olympus High School and co-Captain of the Men's swim team. Evan is a multi time individual and relay state champion at the age group, senior, and high school level with several Utah state records. He was also the 400 IM and 200 M Butterfly champion at Sectionals in 2021 and the 200 IM and 200 M Breaststroke champion at the 2021 Senior Zone Championships. He is a Junior National and US Open qualifier and competed at the USA Swimming Summer Championships in 2021. Evan has been recruited to swim Division 1 in college next year. He is a Red Cross certified lifeguard/water safety instructor and has taught swim lessons at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center for the past three years. Evan enjoys working with kids at all levels of swimming to improve their skills.
