Group Descriptions

The Carter Center Aquatics (CCA) Marlins are a comprehensive competitive year swim club that is owned and operated by the North Cross School. All swimmers and staff are members of USA Swimming, Virginia Swimming and the Carter Athletic Center.  The Marlins home base is the Carter Athletic Center Natatorium, located at 4254 Colonial Avenue on the beautiful North Cross School campus.

CCA offers all levels of swimming from the Learn to Swim (lessons) to Masters Swimming (Adults) and everything in between.   The goal is to improve each individuals swimming technique while instilling a love and passion for this lifelong sport.

                               Seasonal Swimming Groups         

Mini-Marlins 1 (MM1) = The MM1 group is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 8 and younger and serves as the foundation of the CCA Marlin program and a bridge from our lesson program into our competitive programs.  Stroke technique is the focus in a fun and structured environment.

MM1 will meet two times per week on Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:45-4:30pm.

MM1 season will be broken into 3 sessions: Session #1 Sept 5th thru Dec 11th;  Session #2 Jan 2nd thru March 17th;  Session #3- April 10th thru June 9th, 2018.

Mini-Marlins 2 (MM2) = The MM2 group is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 9 through 12 years of age and continues to build the base of the CCA Marlin program and is the next step for our MM1 swimmers and a great start for anyone new to year round competitive swimming. Stroke technique will still be the foundation of this group with a slow introduction into competitive training.

MM2 will meet three times per week on Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:45-4:45pm and on Saturday's 11:00-12:00pm.

MM2's season will be broken into 3 sessions:   Session #1 Sept 5th thru Dec 11th;  Session #2 Jan 2nd thru March 17th;  Session #3- April 10th thru June 9th, 2018.

SwimFit (SFIT) = The SFIT group is comprised primarily of swimmers ages 13 and older.   The focus of this group is for swimmers who are a bit older and want to explore what a competitive swim program entails or who wish to stay fit for their upcoming High School swimming and/or Summer League swimming seasons.  SFIT will broken into a fall session and a spring session.  

Fall Session: (Sept. 18th thru Nov. 2nd 2017)- Each swimmer can elect to signup for either  3,4,5 or 6 week sessions.  

Spring Session: (April 10th thru May 17th, 2018) - Each swimmer can elect to signup for either 3,4,5 or 6 week sessions.

                           Age Group & Senior Programs         

Age Group Bronze (AGB) = The AGB group the first step in our competitive Age Group Swimming program.  This group will continue to place an emphasis on proper stroke technique while building an aerobic base for each swimmer that will help progress them to higher age group teams. Dryland will introduced to swimmers in this group. 

AGB is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 7 through 10 years.

AGB has 4 practices a week on Mon, Weds, Fri & Sat. That range from 75-90 minutes in length.

AGB swimmers will compete regularly and have a 'short course' season Sept 5th - March 25th, 2018 and a 'long course' season that runs April 9th - Aug 3rd 2018.

Age Group Silver (AGS) = The AGS group is the second step in our Competitive Age Group Swimming program.  Practices will continue to place an emphasis on proper stroke technique while building a larger aerobic base for each swimmer that will help progress them to higher age group teams. Dryland will become more integral to the swimmers training program and swimmers will learn the value of consistency, hard work and reward in a fun yet intense training environment.  

AGS is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 9 through 13 years.

AGS has 4 practices a week on Mon-Thurs & Sat. That are approximately 90 minutes in length.

AGS swimmers will compete regularly and have a 'short course' season Sept 5th - March 25th, 2018 and a 'long course' season that runs April 9th - Aug 3rd 2018.

Age Group Gold (AGG) = The AGG group is the highest level in our Competitive Age Group Swimming program.  Swimmers in this group are experienced in the sport of swimming and have a strong understanding and passion for the what it takes to compete and train at a high level. The AGG group will work on mastering proper stroke technique and physical conditioning. Dryland will be an integral component to the swimmers training program.  

AGG is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 11 through 14 years.

AGG has 6 practices a week on Mon-Fri & Sat. That are approximately 90-120 minutes in length.

AGG swimmers will compete regularly and have a 'short course' season Sept 5th - March 25th, 2018 and a 'long course' season that runs April 9th - Aug 3rd 2018.

Senior Development (SRD) = The SRD group is first level in our Competitive Senior  Swimming program. The SRD group is designed for an older aged swimmer who may be new to competitive swimming or who may have other activities that prevent them from fully committing to the higher senior levels but still wish to be apart of the competitive program. Swimmers will be expected to attend practice and competitions on a regular basis, to help increase one's aerobic capacity, stroke proficiency and movement upward in the sport of swimming. Dryland training will be apart of this groups training.  

SRD is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 14 through 18 years.

SRD has 3 practices a week on Tues,Weds & Thurs. That are approximately 90-120 minutes in length.

SRD swimmers will compete regularly and have a 'short course' season Sept 5th - March 25th, 2018 and a 'long course' season that runs April 9th - Aug 3rd 2018.

Senior Silver (SRS) = The SRS group is the second level in our Competitive Senior  Swimming program. A strong commitment is required for admittance into this group.  Physical conditioning (wet and dry), ability to maintain proper technique (wet and dry) during rigorous practice sessions must be a focal point of each swimmers and coach.  The SRS group will be an intense training environment that is geared to reaching the highest levels in the sport of swimming. Swimmers will be required to attend practices and competitions on a regular basis, to help increase one's aerobic capacity, stroke proficiency, injury prevention and movement upward in the sport of swimming. Dryland training will be mandatory part of this groups training.  

SRS is comprised mainly of swimmers ages 14 through 18 years.

SRS has 7 practices a week on Mon-Sat with an AM practice during the week. That are approximately 120-150 minutes in length.

SRS swimmers will compete regularly and have a 'short course' season Sept 5th - March 25th, 2018 and a 'long course' season that runs April 9th - Aug 3rd 2018.

Senior Gold (SRG) = The SRG group is the highest level in our Competitive Senior  Swimming program.
