The Gold group is an advanced and committed training group that will focus on improving on the technical side of the sport along with an introduction into more advanced training sets. Developing a love and passion for the sport of swimming will be a common goal for all Gold athletes. An emphasis will be placed on endurance training, IM sets, use of equipment, introduction to race strategies, goal setting, and strength training in dryland. There will also be a daily emphasis on kicking and technique work.
11-14 years old
*Swimmers in high school will not be allowed to join this group
-Swimmers in this group are recommended to attend 4 weekly work outs.
-Swimmers in this group are highly recommended to attend all meets on the group’s meet schedule, and are required to attend a championship meet at the end of the season.
-Are able to complete 5x100 Free @1:35 (yards)
-Are able to complete 4x200 IM @4:00 (yards)
-Are able to kick 10x50 of any stroke @1:15 (yards)
-Swimmers in this group will practice 4 days a week at Crozet, and at the Brooks YMCA on Saturdays.
Practices Offered Weekly
-4x 1.5 hour evening swimming workouts
-1x 1 hour and 45 minute Saturday swimming work out
-3x Weekly Dryland sessions
Season Length Options:
-Short Course only (September 4th-March 7th)
-Short and Long Course only (September 4th-July 25th)
*The Long Course Season will only be offered at the Brooks YMCA
