What is a Swim-a-thon?
Participants earn money by swimming lengths of the swimming pool. Swimmers have a one-hour period to swim as many laps as possible. Swimmers get pledges from family, neighbors, or businesses to support their efforts. Donors can either pledge a certain amount of money per length or make a flat donation in support of our team.
The money we raise will support the operation of our swim team in the coming season! In addition to raising funds for our team, 5% of the money we raised will go back to the USA Swimming Foundation. USA Swimming Foundation's Swim-a-Thon™ is the only official pledge-for-length swim program. Swim-a-Thons™ have generated over $41 million dollars by over a thousand different clubs in the last ten years! The Foundation works to strengthen the sport of swimming by saving lives and building champions—in the pool and in life.
How do I participate?
Every swimmer gets a swim packet. Use the envelope to collect your pledges or one time donations. You can also use the online swim-a-thon fundraising platform.
There will be prizes for different ranges of pledges collected. Check out the Swim-a-Thon prize page for example pictures of this year's prizes which include:
- $150: stainless steel water bottle + 3 vinyl stickers
- $250: Limited edition “quaranteam” tie-dyed t-shirt OR 2 water bottles + 6 stickers
- $300: Limited edition “quaranteam” tie-dyed sweatshirt OR 2 t-shirts
- $500: VJO team jacket OR 2 sweatshirts OR $50 Elsmore Swim Shop gift card
- $700: VJO team jacket + VJO warm-up pants OR $70 Elsmore Swim Shop gift card OR combo of prizes with equal value
- $1000: Parka OR combo of prizes with equal value
On September 11th, all you have to do is SWIM! Remember: write your names on your pledge envelope. Checks should be made out to VJO or have your sponsors pledge on our website: www.vallejoaquatics.org (They should look for YOUR name so you can get credited.)
What is our Goal?
Our team goal is $8000, but if we can do more, that would be GREAT! Each swimmer is asked to participate and help their team. If ALL families participate we could all help out in reaching our goal. The money we raised will be used to cover operational costs of the team and keep our monthly dues low!
