NOVA's mission is to develop excellence in swimmers of all ages and abilities by challenging them and motivating them to reach their full potential, in swimming and in life. Our team members grow as athletes and people as they learn important life skills: perseverance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and time management. Over 1,500 children participate annually in our lessons programs and we offer recreational and competitive swimming for adults. NOVA supports Henrico County High School swimming, and over 300 summer league swimmers participate in our Spring Clinics.
However, NOVA is not delivering everything we could - or should. We are the only Top 10 USA Swimming club that does not have access to an Olympic-sized pool for training and NOVA is unable to host long-course meets. By adding a 50 meter pool to our facility, NOVA will be able to offer long-course competition "at home," saving our families time and travel costs. Our swimmers will have access to more meets since the size of our club often prevents full participation at other pools.
In addition, our team's growth is constrained by pool capacity, and we cannot meet the demand for lessons; right now, almost 200 children are on the lessons waiting list. We want to expand our programming to serve more people and broaden our outreach efforts to teach lifesaving skills to underserved kids at risk for drowning.
The expansion of our facility will help to meet these needs and allow NOVA to fulfill its mission.
