25 yards of continuous backstroke in under :40

The ability to focus and interact with swimmers and coaches for 45-55 minute practices

*Coach approval (see bottom)*

Practice Details

~45 min, offered 3-4 times per week (no minimum practice requirements)

In-Water Focus

The focus of younger swimmers is having fun and learning fundamentals. This will be accomplished through the use of drills, short swims, and other activities in the water. Swimmers will be taught the framework of all four strokes. Coaches will emphasize kicking, streamlines, turns, and racing starts.

Meet Requirements

None; a variety of meets will be offered throughout the year.

Equipment Needed

Kickboard, fins, gear bag

Other Notes

Swimmers are strongly encouraged to participate in other sports and activities. We believe physical activity and the experience of other sports increases the number of learned movement patterns and general athletic development of the child. Sports such as gymnastics and soccer have excellent carryover value. The better the athlete, the better the swimmer.

Other Notes

The age and ability range of our Masters group is varied. So long as a swimmer doesn’t mind hard work and stepping outside their comfort zone, there’s always a place in the pool for them.

*All group placements are based on objective standards (time standards, legal strokes) AND head coach approval. Group placements are based on the child's physical & emotional maturity, peer groups, family, and most importantly--the long term growth of the athlete. Coaches will always place long-term development over short-term reward.
