USA Swimming Disability Committee Mission Statement

USA Swimming encourages people with disabilities to participate in the sport of swimming and facilitates their inclusion in USA Swimming programs through education and collaboration.

We seek to involve people with disabilities in existing competitions and programs for all swimmers, rather than provide unique disability-only opportunities. Swimmers who prefer disability-only programs should consult the links menu in the “Get Involved” section below. Click here to view the latest disability swimming resources including videos and articles.

This site is updated regularly with dates for competitions, as well as coaches clinics for athletes with impairments.

If you have any questions you may contact Char Sorensen Disability Chair for CSI and the Regional Officials Chair for the Western Zone US-Paralympics.

LGBTQ Cultural Inclusion Resource Guide Released
USA Swimming has released the organization’s first-ever Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Questioning (LGBTQ) Cultural Inclusion Resource Guide. This resource guide will help coaches, parents and clubs provide a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes. The guide was created to provide resources and tolls so that members may enjoy a safe and inclusive environment.
The LGBTQ guide is the third in a series of ‘Cultural Inclusion’ guides - an African-American and Hispanic/Latino guide in both English and Spanish were released earlier this year; a guide for Asian-American and Native American communities will be released in coming months. For more information about the guides please contact Mariejo Truex, USA Swimming Director of Programs and Services at mtruex@usaswimming.org.
