Western Zone Mentoring and Assistance

Western Zone Officials Mentoring and Assistance Program

(Version 2017.3.29)

We are seeking officials to represent our LSC at the Western Zone meets this summer (2017), and to participate in the Official’s Mentoring and Reimbursement Programs.

The WZ meets this summer are:

 ·      WZ Age Group meet - Wednesday Aug 9 - Saturday Aug 12, Roseville CA.

·      WZ Senior meet - Tuesday Aug 1 - Saturday Aug 5, Clovis CA.

The Mentoring Program is designed to have each LSC provide 2 officials (one Mentor, one Mentee) to each of these meets.  The Western Zone will provide lodging assistance for the invited officials. The selected Mentor and Mentee would share a room in order to facilitate the learning experience. The candidates for the Mentoring program must submit an Application to officiate to the Meet Referee.

Criteria for Mentors / Mentees:

Mentors

·       Recommendation of the LSC or Western Zone Officials' Chair.

·       N3 Certification in the position for which he/she is mentoring.

·       Officiated in at least one, but preferably multiple, Sectional, Zone, Grand Prix, Junior Nationals, Nationals or Olympic Trials in the past two years.

·       Concurrence of the Meet Referee of the zone meet to which the mentor is being invited.

·       If invited, willing to work all sessions with the possible exception of a distance free "half-day" session at the outset of the meet.

Mentees

·       Recommendation of the LSC or Western Zone Officials' Chair.

·       LSC certified in the position to which the individual will be invited, having officiated in that position at least six sessions over 4 meets in the past 12 months.

·       While not a requirement it would be desirable that either:

·       The individual is N2 certified at the position,

·       Or in the opinion of the LSC Officials' Chair the individual is ready for an evaluation for advancement to N2 at the position.

·       If invited, willing to work all sessions with the possible exception of a distance free "half-day" session at the outset of the meet.

Participants in the Officials Reimbursement Program need to submit an Application to officiate to the Meet Referee and work minimum of 80% (all but one session) of the meet.  .

An official can only participate in one of the two programs.

Please let me know by email if you are interested in either of these programs.
