We encourage hard work, stress a team atmosphere and require having fun along the way! We compete with other Y teams and measure progress by improving on personal best times. Swim team members are required to have a membership to the YMCA and must be able to swim one length of each freestyle and backstroke to participate. All new swimmers must be evaluated by the coaching staff prior to signing up for the swim team. This can be done during the Try It Week, or during the Developmental Team practice.

Regardless of when the swimmer’s actual first day of practice is, payment schedules will not be established for swimmers registering “late” (October or later) for the beginning of the season.

Volunteers:

All parents are expected to volunteer at home meets, invitationals and fundraisers.  If you are interested in a more substantial role (volunteer coach, PSTPO Officer, PSTPO Committee Chair) please reach out to Erin Bauer (PSTPO President) at eringrindle@hotmail.com or Joe Palmer (Y Aquatic Director) at joepalmer@icymca.org. PSTPO (Piranha Swim Team Parent’s Organization) hold their monthly meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Y’s conference room – all are welcome.

Registration Packets:

Registration packets will be available at the Welcome Center at the Y beginning August 20.  Draft forms and emergency contact info must be completed/updated.  Draft forms are necessary for PSTPO to be able to charge you for your swimmer’s entry fees for invitationals and championship meets.

If you have an outstanding balance with your meet fees you will not be able to register your swimmer for the fall season until the fees have been paid.
