Athletes in these groups have the strength and stamina to endure 45 minute work sessions and are ages 6-12. Group 2 focus mainly on learning four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique. Group 3 continues with additional swimming drills with increased endurance demands during practices and more swim meet experience.
Participating in Swim Meets is highly encouraged in order to hone competitive swimming skills and track progress. Our Summer Recreational League and Summer CYSL League meets are geared to provide plenty of meet opportunities - encouraging swimmers to have FUN while working hard. All returning swimmers must participate in one or both leagues.
Skill Requirements: Must be Level 4 or higher on YMCA Swim Skills Continuum or Advanced by Coaches from Shark Pups 1

Summer Season: Practices start April 3rd and season ends with SCSL Championship Meet on Saturday, July 8th.
Workout Days/Times: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:45 - 4:30 pm (Note: times and dates will remain the same when school is out - email Coach Mary if you have a scheduling situation that requires a later practice time)
Cost - $75 Monthly ($95 Monthly for NON YMCA Member)

Competitive Style Swim Goggles NO diving mask
Swim Caps for all girls and boys if hair is long
Swim suit that fits well so that swimmers can focus on swimming and not on keeping their suits in place. This is extremely important when doing streamline work, turns, and starts.
