Team Philosophy

YMCA Swimming seeks to achieve individual success through the pursuit of excellence.  The goal of our coaching staff is to help each swimmer maximize their efforts in the drive toward personal success.  We offer athletes the opportunity to pursue their goals and encourage them to become the best swimmer and the best person they can be.  We are committed to the idea of support for the individual; we believe the success of the individual is the success of the group.

A progressive, skill appropriate developmental approach is followed to train and prepare athletes for long term success.  We challenge all persons involved in the swim team program to demonstrate the YMCA core values: honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. We stress trying your best, achieving goals, team effort, sportsmanship, and having fun.

The goal of our swim program is to instruct correct technique and strong fundamentals to create quality swimmers.

Parents also play an important role in providing a supportive atmosphere for our swimmers and coaching staff.  Parental involvement and encouragement are essential ingredients in a successful swimming program.  There are opportunities that will be available throughout the season for parents to volunteer and show support for the Gators.  Parent support is critical to the success and positive development of each child in the program!
