Chena Skills is our pre-competitive lessons program for swimmers aged 5-10. Our program focuses on teaching & developing the 4 competitive strokes, skills such as proper starts & turns, and an introducion to the pace clock. Our lessons are taught by certified coaches and volunteers, all whom have been or are current Chena swimmers; we have 2 coaches & 1 volunteer per 8 students. Our program offers an optional mini meet at the end of each session where your swimmer can try competing in a familiar, supportive and fun setting. Parents are welcome, though we expect you to cheer your swimmer on! A progress report card is given the last day of the lesson set; if your swimmer attends the mini meet a certificate is awarded with their events and times achieved at the conclusion of the event.
The Skills Program offers 3 sessions: Fall (10 x 45 min. classes), Winter (8 classes) and Spring (10 classes). Swimmers must be able to swim 25m in deep and shallow water before entry into our program. Please see our assessment schedule listed below. A one-time Swim BC fee is also required for registration and insurance purposes.
Chena Skills is a skills based pre-competitive swimming program for swimmers aged 5-10 years old who can swim 25m unassisted.
