  Learn-to-Swim (Registration Open)

Make a Splash is a water safety initiative created by the USA Swimming Foundation.

Duke City Aquatics was the first learn-to-swim provider in New Mexico to join Make a Splash.

We offer year-round water safety lessons through our Make a Splash program at West Mesa Aquatic Center.  Lessons are offered twice a week for 4 weeks, providing a total of 8 lessons per month. We keep a 1:6 instructor:student ratio. These lessons cater to children between the ages of 5 and 10 years-old, and focus on preparing children to join our Discovery Group.  We must have a minimum of 4 children enrolled to offer each class.

Children must be at least 5 years-old to register for this program. Make a Splash participants MUST register on a monthly basis via this website. Spots are reserved when payment is received!  We do not offer lessons during the months of August and December. Lessons are offered at West Mesa only.

Make A Splash

We offer this program during the school-year Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday at 5PM September through November and January through May. During the summer (pending pool space and instructor availability), we offer lessons Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday at 8AM, 845AM, and 5PM for the months of June and July. Please note, we do not offer lessons during the months of August or December.

Classes are 40 minutes each, held twice a week for four weeks, a total of eight lessons. Instructors are not responsible for making up missed classes. We will only schedule make-up classes for pool closures or interfering athletic events.

Make a Splash lessons are held at West Mesa Aquatics Center in the Olympic pool, which is kept at competition temperature (78-79 degrees); because of this, we require all participants to be at least 5 years-old by the first day of each session.

Lessons cost $75 per child per session. There is a $25 cancellation fee for failing to cancel enrollment before the close of registration or before the start of a session. If you fail to contact the lesson coordinator or to show up by the second class of a session, you will be billed the $25 cancellation fee, and your spot will be given to another student.

Requests for refunds, whether whole or partial, must be submitted to the lesson coordinators, and will be evaluated and distributed at the discretion of the lesson coordinators only.

By completing the registration form, you accept responsibility to pay the lesson, registration, and/or cancellation fees described above.
