Swim Groups

WCFY Wavemakers offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Wavemakers to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

 

 

Ripples

This is our entry level group for swimmers 9 and under. Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool to enter this group on their front and back. Swim meet participation is encouraged at this level.
 

Whitecaps

Swimmers are between the ages of 5-10.  In this group focus on perfecting the four legal competitive strokes and improving start and turn technique. Swim meet participation is encouraged at this level.


 

Surge

Surge swimmers are between 10 and over. This group is a beginner to advanced beginner group of swimmers that are technically perfecting the four competitive strokes. Swim meet participation is encouraged at this level.

 

Splash

Splash swimmers are at least 9-10 years old and in order to join the Splash group all four competitive strokes must be legal AND they must have a 50 free yard time of 42.00 or less. Swimmers in the splash group will have a more challenging and longer workout than their Whitecap group and will be expected to participate in dryland practices. Swimmers in this group display a desire to train on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. 

 

Tsunamis

Minimum age for entry into this group is 11 years old. Swimmers in this group display a desire to train on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Swim meet participation is encouraged at this level.

 

Hurricanes

Minimum age for entry into this group is 11 years old. Swimmers in the Hurricanes must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level with training geared towards individual talents and endurance. Swimmers will be expected to participate in dryland, and hold themselves to the highest of standards and participate in meets in various events. Hurricanes are expected to portray themselves as leaders at all times.
