New Swimmers Information

Welcome, to the exciting world of swimming! By joining the Mandan Marlins Swim Club your child will gain many benefits including self discipline, good sportsmanship, and time management skills, along with beneficial exercise for cardiovascular and overall fitness. They will also meet great life long friends and most importantly have fun.

We are a parent run competitive swim club that is affiliated with the National USA Swimming Organization. Parents are needed in leadership roles as board members and committee leaders. We are always looking for volunteers to help with swim meets, coordinate social events, and organize fundraisers. Volunteering to help is a great way to get involved, meet other parents, and be a positive role model for your child.

We have two seasons, the short course and long course

  • The short course season is from November through March and the pool length is 25 yards.

  • The long course season is from the end of May through July and the pool length is 50 meters (slightly longer than 50 yards).

  • USA registration fee for one season $33.00 or for both seasons (short and long) $53.00.

  • The Marlins season fee is $180.00 for short course season and $100.00 for long course season for the first swimmer in the family and a discounted rate for each additional swimmer. These fees can be paid for with different payment options.

  • Community Center membership is required. They have many different options and membership plans available.

  • Need based scholarships are available. Qualifications are the same as those for free or reduced meals at your school.

Practice schedule for short course season is 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Wednesday 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. You have the option to attend any or all practices.

Practice schedule for long course season - two practices each day, morning and afternoon Monday through Friday. You have the option to attend any or all practices. It is recommended that new swimmers attend the afternoon practices.

Swimmers will learn and compete in the four competitive swim strokes, which are freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke.

Recommended Equipment:

  • Goggles, swim cap, and a good practice suit.

  • Team suits are optional at the swimmer's expense.

Swim Meets:
There are several meets throughout each season and they are highly recommended. However, these are optional and do require an additional fee.

Competing is fun and rewarding. It gives the swimmer a chance to show what they have achieved in practice.

Communication between club leadership, coaches, parents, and swimmers is critical to the success of our organization. We will communicate important information by e-mail, bulletin boards, parent meetings, coaches, board members, club newsletter, and this web site.
