Layton Surfers Group 2019
Purpose: This is our beginner swimmers who should be focusing on learning the basics of freestyle and backstroke and enjoying their swimming experience.
Purpose: These groups are designed to begin focusing on participating in swim meets with the goal of swimming correctly (avoiding disqualifications) and achieving times.
Purpose: These groups focus on improving stroke technique (freestyle and backstroke) while being introduced to breaststroke and butterfly. Organized practices will be given and participants will want to participate in swim meets to achieve improved times.
Purpose: This group builds on the foundations learned in the Mavericks group. Emphasis is on improving stroke technique (freestyle and backstroke) while breaststroke and butterfly strokes are being taught and developed. Workouts are designed to build confidence through trial and error.
Purpose: These groups focus on improving all stroke techniques while increasing yardage and intensity. Coaches are teaching, demonstrating and perfecting form through drills, kicking and speed work. Swim meets are highly encouraged to evaluate progress.
Purpose: This group focuses on all of the strokes in set workout plans. Participants will be required to show effort and consistency with improvement being the end goal. Attendance at swim meets is essential and the focus should be on earning State swim qualification times.
Purpose: This group is designed to learn how to prepare for swim meets through consistent practicing. Set workouts are designed to be challenging, yet achievable. Practices should be designed specifically for meet preparation. Swimmers should be qualifying in multiple events at the State meet.
Purpose: This group begins the process of learning how to race rather than just swim. Practices are designed to improve skills and perfect technique. Swimmers should be attending meets regularly and achieving USA National A and AA times.
Purpose: This group is our elite swimmers who are motivated to train and succeed. Practices consist of longer training sets that require dedication and stamina. Building a solid foundation and work ethic is essential. Practices are designed to perfect skills and technique. Swimmers should be attending meets regularly and achieving USA National A, AA, AAA times.
