GHCKRT is developing a new collegiate and high performance training center located on American Lake. The center will allow college-aged athletes to continue training for International and Olympic competitions while also attending college or technical school.   The American Lake Center will serve our own GHCKRT athletes (after high school) as well as athletes from the Pacific Northwest and around the country.

On Saturday, many team members and coaches started the massive clean up project, clearing out overgrown brush and repairing the dock/railings. There will be lots of hard work that will go into renovating this facility over the next year.

If you have questions about the project, please contact David Crocker at:

Thirty-one boats signed up to participate in the 2015 Gig Harbor Lighted Boat Parade this past Saturday, but due to gusts of wind and heavy rain, only twenty-four colorful motorized boats and one beautifully decorated Dragon Boat was brave enough to venture out into the harbor.

The weather didn’t stop the many spectators from showing up to see the dazzling array of holiday lights and Christmas music fill the air.   The Dragon Boat looked very festive and was well lit as it circled the harbor.  We could see the paddles strike the water from Skansie Park and it was quite a sight.

The team has traveled to SEATTLE CANOE & KAYAK CLUB on Green Lake to participate in a fun weekend of training, workshops, & racing. Coaches and athletes from the Northwest region and international clubs will be competing.
