Heat Levels

Level 1

This level is for those that are new to our competitive swim program.   Participants must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted with rhythmic breathing and face in the water.   Level 1 swimmers will learn the four swim competitive swim strokes, starts, and flip turns as well as develop endurance through various swim drills.

PRACTICE TIMES:

This Level will practice 3 days per week, practice days and times will depend on the season. Please refer to the Aquatics calendar for exact dates and times. Coaches will also send out weekly e-mails to give practice information.
Please be on deck and ready to begin stretching at the listed time.  This may mean that you arrive 5-10 minutes before the listed practice time to get changed into your suit.

Level 2

Level 2 is for swimmers who perform all basic strokes.  Swimmers also exhibit good knowledge of breathing techniques, starts, and flip turns.  Level 2 will continue to refine strokes, increase endurance, and skill levels through higher intensity practices, and more challenging interval drill sets.

Level 3
Level 3 is for those swimmers who desire a more competitive swim experience.  They exhibit a hard work ethic at practice, and perform well at meets. Swimmers are expected to be able to read a pool clock, and require a greater level of endurance and skill level. Level 3 swimmers are middle school age and below

Level 4

Swimmers are expected to participate on the MS and HS swim teams if available.  Swimmers will practice four to five days a week, to develop proper stroke techniques, strength and endurance. Swimmers should love to swim and be able to make the coach’s swim practice sets. Level 4 swimmers are middle school age and above.

USA SWIMMING

All HEAT swimmers are encouraged to participate in USA Swimming. USA swimming is an established competitive organization that offers HEAT swimmers the ability to compete at a highest level of competition.  USA Swimmers will participate in regional USA sanctioned meets. It is a great opportunity for swimmers what hope to be future leaders on the team, and advance their skill set in the pool. Coaches expect a greater level of commitment from USA athletes and their families. Athletes receive medals and ribbons for top places. There are additional costs associated with USA not covered by HEAT registration.

Middle School Swim

We encourage all middle school age athletes to participate on their respective Middle School Swim and Dive Teams. We offer a discounted price to the middle school athletes because the seasons coincide with our HEAT season. The registration fee is the same regardless of the Level a swimmer is assigned to. Middle School coaches will provide female swimmers a suggested HEAT Level to register for.
