Eligibility & Registration
The Lakes Community Association (LCA) Summer Swim Team Program is open to youth, ages 5 through 18, able to swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke non-stop without assistance. Registration is on a first come basis with priority given to LCA resident families. Online registration opens April 7 for LCA residents ONLY, April 28 for Non-Residents. Don't miss the Annual Ice Cream Social on April 29th from 2:00-4:00 pm. LCA resident fees are $100 per athlete. Non-LCA resident fees are $155 per athlete. Fees cover the entire season and are not prorated for absences or vacations.
Snake Swimmers present a positive image at all times. Athletes are expected to follow all facility rules and coaching staff instructions. We walk safely, follow pool rules, observe proper lane etiquette, attend practices on time, and treat one another respectfully. Coaches may temporarily dismiss any athlete who violates the code of conduct.
The 2018 season begins May 30th. We take a short break, July 2-6, for Independence Day. The season concludes July 21-27 based on age group.
Girls and boys compete separately in six age groups: 5–6, 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, 13–14, and 15–18. The participant’s age on June 1 determines the swimmer’s age group for the season.
Suits — Competition and practice suits may be ordered online through our Swim Outlet Team Store: SwimOutlet.com/lakessnakes. Team suits for the 2018 season are solid black and can be purchased from the online Team Store or any other store. We will complement the black suits with a bright green cap. We are working on a bulk order of Lakes Snakes logo caps...stay tuned. We hope to have them for purchase at the Ice Cream Social and on deck the first week or practice.
Goggles — Swimmers use goggles to protect their eyes and gain a clear view of their surroundings. Goggles come in a variety of colors and styles. Fit varies and depends upon individual preferences. Prices range from $6–$25. A variety of goggles are available for purchase through our Swim Outlet Team Store and at local sporting goods stores.
Caps — Caps keep hair out of swimmers’ faces and goggles straps in place. We are working to make Lakes Snakes logo caps available for purchased during the Ice Cream Social.
End-of-Season Celebration & Awards
We come together near the end of each season to reflect upon performance and celebrate accomplishments. A delicious buffet is followed by award presentations for each age group. The Lakes Swim Team Committee generously provides the main dish and dessert. Families are asked to contribute a side dish or appetizer.
All athletes receive a certificate and medal for completing the season. Coaches may also acknowledge exceptional efforts with awards in one or more of the following categories:
- Amazing Attitude
- Extraordinary Improvement
- IM Extreme / Well-Rounded Performance
- Supreme Teammate
- Tenacious Teammate
Criteria for earning these awards include attendance, attitude, conduct, meet participation, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
