UPDATES:
MAAPP Implementation & General Requirement
As part of the implementation and the General Requirement of USA Swimming's Safe Sport Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP 2.0, effective as of September 1, 2021),  attached to this email is a customizable MAAPP Policy which SNS Member Clubs can post on their websites and share with their respective memberships.

Also attached to this email is a customizable MAAPP Acknowledgement Form to be filled out by Athletes (18 & older), Parents (of Minor Athletes), Coaches & other Non-Athlete Members of Member Clubs which states that they have reviewed & agreed to MAAPP on an annual basis.

On an annual basis, Clubs are expected to have these forms filled out by the previously specified individuals in their respective memberships and are expected to keep these forms on file.  For further clarification, please view the Safe Sport General Requirement MAAPP FAQ attached to this correspondence and the MAAPP Section of the USA Swimming Website

Membership Requirement Extension to January 1, 2022
On July 15, 2021, a communication announcing all employees and individuals serving on the board of directors of USA Swimming Zones, Local Swimming Committees (LSCs) and member clubs must be non-athlete members of USA Swimming, was released. Since then, numerous inquiries have been received about how this requirement applies to institutionally-owned clubs. USA Swimming has been working with the U.S. Center for SafeSport in an attempt to be able to provide guidance to institutionally-owned clubs. To date, they continue this effort but do not have full guidance to provide.

As a result, USA Swimming is extending the implementation date of this requirement to January 1, 2022. We anticipate being able to provide full guidance to clubs & members in advance of this new deadline. Please look forward to receiving further communications from USA Swimming on this matter.

Please note, all individuals who have direct and frequent contact with, or who have authority over, athletes are required to be non-athlete members of USA Swimming. For any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected]org

Safe Sport Recognition Program (SSRP) 2021 Trainings

Safe Sport is committed to creating a healthy environment that is free from abuse for all members. As we continue with virtual learning opportunities throughout 2021, we will be increasing security measures to keep parents, athletes and coaches safe during trainings. All trainings will require individuals to register ahead of time.

In addition, we have enhanced our Safe Sport Trainings' security measures and will have the following in place:

  • Meetings will be locked

  • Athlete attendees will only have access to chat with hosts

  • Multiple USA Swimming Safe Sport staff will be on all trainings and will monitor participant video share

  • Frequent check-ins with attendees

  • Screen share and annotation capabilities will be disabled

  • Meetings will require registration and athlete training registrations will be cross-checked with USA Swimming member records

  • USA Swimming has enabled the At-Risk Meeting Notifier tool from Zoom. This tool searches the public internet for Zoom meeting information and checks the meeting's security settings. Zoom notifies USA Swimming if a meeting appears to be at high risk for being disrupted. This tool is enabled for all USA Swimming hosted Zoom meetings.

Safe Sport trainings are held monthly, please view trainings dates through 2021 below:
