SERPENT FAMILY VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
When a child joins a swim team, so do the parents. THIS SPORT REQUIRES PARENTS TO BE PARTICIPANTS, NOT JUST SPECTATORS. Swim meets are very labor intensive and simply can’t be run without the majority of parents assisting at some stage of the meet. Training for some jobs takes only a few minutes; others require attendance at clinics. None are as scary or difficult as you might think!
Every family on our team agrees to the following volunteer requirement:
Our family understand that EACH Serpent SWIM TEAM FAMILY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLETING A MINIMUM OF THREE (3) HALF MEETS PER FAMILY DURING THE REGULAR SWIM SEASON.
I hereby acknowledge that if we fail to meet our family's volunteer requirement by the end of the regular season my swimmer(s) may be unable to swim with the Serpents the following year (2019 swim season) .
All volunteer signups will be tracked through our Team Unify website. Each volunteer must signup through Team Unify AND be checked in at each half of the swim meet they are volunteering. A designated volunteer check in person will be on deck each meet.
Families are expected to be proactive in signing up for their required number of shifts. In the event that you cannot fulfill a shift you signed up for it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to find a replacement.
If at anytime you have an issue signing up through Team Unify contact the team representative for help.
*Requires yearly certification by attending the official’s clinic
OUTSIDE OF MEETS:
- Social Events Team - Work with Social Events Coordinator on all social functions during the summer. Working on this team fulfills the 3 half meet requirement. This position is outside of meets and practice. Participation will be verified by the Social Events Coordinator.
- Ribbons - Place labels on the ribbons swimmers earned at the previous Saturday meets. This usually occurs during Monday morning practice. This position earns 1 half meet requirement and must be verified by the team representative.
TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
for Referee, Starter, Stroke & Turn Judges, & Meet Manager (office)
Saturday, May 19 - Referee/Starter/Stroke & Turn Clinic at Little Neck (NOTE: Referee/Starter Training will run from 8:00-9:00 AM, and Stroke & Turn Training will run from 9:00-11:00 AM)
Monday, June 4 - Meet Manager Scoring Clinic, time & place TBD
Wednesday, June 6 - Make-Up Officials Training at Mallory 6:00-9:00 (Note: Referee/Starter Training will run from 6:00-7:00 PM, and Stroke & Turn Training will run from 7:00-9:00 PM)
