SWIM LESSONS

Physical Fitness  Fun  ~  Water Safety

World Safe Swimming (WSS) is an organization that promotes water safety by teaching drowning prevention skills and beginning swimming instruction. WSS' initial project has begun in Portland, Oregon, with swimming activities that are focused in the eastern areas of Portland.

Drowning is a tragic worldwide public health issue, particularly in natural water such as lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Minority populations are particularily at risk from this issue because of lack of access and affordability to swimming instruction. WSS recognizes that the Pacific Northwest, with its many natural water environments, puts children and adults at greater risk.
World Safe Swimming offers programs at the Centennial and Gresham pools.
