COMMERCE AQUATICS SWIM TEAM
The Commerce Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal is to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.
Swim Team holds afternoon practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tryouts are held the 1st day of practice each month at 3:30 PM. Those trying out need to bring their Commerce resident card, suit and goggles.
While all of our coaches value communication with parents, please respect the athletes’ training time by not interrupting coaches during practice. The coaches are usually available before or after practice to meet with parents.

This is our entry level group. An athlete joins this group after passing through the Pre-Competitive Swim Lessons.

Workout Days/Times: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4:15-5:30 PM
From the Level 1, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on having fun, drills and stroke development in the four competitive strokes, and working on start and turn technique.

Athletes in this group are usually at least 10 years old. This group continues to work on developing their stroke technique. Swimmers will begin to focus on cardiovascular development. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged.
Coach Omar Torres
Workout Days/Times: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4:30-6:50 PM
Minimum age for entry into this group is 11 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. There is much more emphasis on cardiovascular training, though athletes still work on stroke technique as they progress in their development. Athletes in this group train for the 200 Individual Medley and 200 Freestyle.
Workout Days/Times: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4:30-7:00 PM
Athletes in this group will be at least 11-12 years old. Training will consist of dryland (core body strength) and cardiovascular training. Athletes must make a commitment to attend a minimum of 80% of the workouts and display a strong desire to perform at the highest level at which they are capable. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present.
Athletes at this level must show a high level of discipline. Athletes begin to specialize in their individual events. The athletes are expected to attend the meets asked of them to attend. Attendance at all practices is expected.
