Coach Katherine Schlimm

Katherine Schlimm - Head Coach

Kathy grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1987 and was an All-American NCAA Division II Swimmer in 200 and 400 IM. Serving in the Army for 12 years, she lived all over the world before she and her husband, Paul, decided to raise their three girls in the Mid-West. She established and head coached the Platte County Otters for 8 years and coached the Platte County High School women for two years.

Kathy has a unique approach to coaching. Technique is very important to her, as well as the character development of each swimmer. She fondly remembers her childhood summers spent on her team learning to love and master the sport, and making lifelong friends. During the off season she runs a small business.

Olivia Forrester - Assistant Coach
Olivia graduated from Platte County High School last year, where she enjoyed swimming on the varsity and state swim teams. She now attends the University of Iowa, where she studies Environmental Science and Biology. She started swimming on Walnut Creek when she was nine years old, and has loved swimming ever since.

This will be Olivia’s second year as a swim coach. Her favorite part of coaching is getting to know the swimmers and their talents, and helping them to reach their personal goals. Many of her best memories were spent swimming, and her primary goal as a swim coach is to share her love of the water.

Emma Bermond - Assistant Coach

Emma is going to Wartburg College in Iowa to study to become a teacher. She has dedicated the past twelve years to swimming and is very excited to be a Coach for Walnut Creek.
