EAST COAST AQUATIC TEAM
Swim Group Descriptions

 

 


Developmental: (Primarily 6-10 year olds)

Swimmers will learn the fundamentals and technique of all 4 strokes, starts, and turns.  Instruction will be in-water where the swimmers will learn, practice, and train.  The main goal of this group is to keep learning and swimming fun and productive.

Practice recommendation: 2-3 practices per week.

Meet recommendation: 1 per month.

Required Gear: Kickboard, Water Bottle, Fins, Mesh bag

 

Age Group 1: (Primarily 9-12 year olds)

Age Group 1 is the next step in the ECAT program.  This group will emphasize technique in a training environment. This level will begin to mentally move the swimmer to a more competitive focus and dedication to the sport. Practices will include intervals, drill work, racing strategies, as well as teaching the swimmers the little things that makes them fast.

Practice recommendation: 3-4 practices per week.

Meet recommendation: 1 per month.

Required Gear: Kickboard, Pull buoy, Fins, Water Bottle, Mesh Bag

 

Age Group 2: (Primarily 11-14 year olds)

This group will use cutting edge dry land exercises designed to improve basic core strength and agility. They will use a 200 based training philosophy to build stamina and speed. The Age Group 2 group will also put a great deal of emphasis on racing strategies, as well as master the little things that make them fast.

Practice recommendation: 4-5 practices per week.

Meet recommendation: 1-2 per month.

Required Gear: Kickboard, Pull buoy, Fins, Water Bottle, Mesh Bag, Snorkel, Paddles

 

Senior: (Primarily 13-19 year olds)

The goal of the ECAT Senior Group will be to train for, and compete in Senior Champs, Sectional, Junior National and Senior National level competitions. The Senior practice group is designed for those swimmers wishing to pursue the heights of their abilities as swimmers.  They will develop leadership skills through hard work and dedication while setting an example for the entire team.

Practice recommendation: All practices offered.

Meet recommendation: 2 per month.
