The South Park Aquatic Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the SPAC to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.
AGE GROUP (Ages 8-18)
The Age Group is a Swim Team that is open to anyone who advances through the novice group or passes an aquatics test at a scheduled tryout. All members must be USA Swimming Registered. The age group is separated into 3 groups.
This group is for swimmers who are serious about competitive swimming. Practices will spend equal amounts of time focusing on technical development, athletic development, and tactical racing strategies. Swimmers are expected to practice 5-6 days a week and compete as often as possible.
The silver group typically consists of high school and middle school aged swimmers but is open to qualified swimmers as young as 9. Swimmers should be comfortable with a 1 hour 45 minute practice duration and are encouraged to compete often. This group is more casual than the gold group with a goal attendance of 4-5 days a week. Practices mainly focus on technical development, creating good practice habits, competition fundamentals, and some focus on athletic development.
The Bronze Group is for swimmers new to age group practices. We focus mainly on technical development and instilling sound fundamentals. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to compete in events they feel comfortable with but are competition is not required at this level. This group is the most casual with a goal attendance being between 3-5 days a week.

NOVICE Group (Ages 6-13)
The novice group is open to swimmers who have passed group lessons or have expressed interest in joining a swim team. This swimmer must be able to preform a freestyle front crawl for 25 consecutive yards or they will have to start in group lessons. Training will be focused strictly on technique and educating swimmers about competitive swimming. It will mostly consist of drill work and will be directly supervised by a USA Swimming Certified Coach. The goal of the program is to instill good training habits early and inform swimmers of what to expect at a swim meet. Meet participation is not expected. The swimmer will remain in the novice group until all of their strokes, starts, and turns are legal and can pass the Age Group Aquatic Test.

This group practices Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:00-7:45 p.m.
Summer Times: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Group Swim Lessons (Ages 5-12)
This group is for children who are just learning how to swim. The lessons will be focused on water safety, basic swimming skills, and introducing competitive swimming techniques. The instructors are experienced swimmers who have been trained on how to teach this lesson plan. The lesson plan is broken into multiple levels where kids can pass levels by completing objectives that have been made clear to them. Parents can track their child's progress with a certificate presented at the first lesson. If a swimmer completes all lessons they will be invited to be apart of either novice or age group swim teams.

Pittsburgh Combined Water Polo (Ages 12+)
The official start date is June 28th. Registration should be open by the 26th. This will be a combined team with players from all over the south hills but mainly consisting of South Park Swimmers. The intent is to practice over the summer, host and attend scrimmages with Tiger Water polo early in fall, and to finish with a travel tournament. Summer practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30am-9:00am. American Water Polo Athlete Registration for the year is $50.

Club Diving (Ages 9-18)
Its a diving team that runs during the fall and winter seasons. .
This group practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
