I coach swimming courses for the juniors program, the swim team, the masters program, and I teach private lessons to swimmers of all ages and abilities. The atmosphere at Scott Valley Swimming & Tennis Club is always positive and welcoming. The grounds are peaceful and the facilities are ideal for teaching and learning. The staff at the club is a fantastic group of people and it is always a pleasure to work alongside them to assist the friendly community of Scott Valley.
Born and raised in Scott Valley, my love for the water began as a Sea Serpent at the age of 4. After swimming and playing water polo in Marin for over 14 years, helping coach along the way, I attended UC Davis, where I played Division I water polo for 4 years and earned my Teaching Credential and Masters in Education. My love of teaching and coaching has brought me back to the bay area, and I feel honored to be a part of the Scott Valley community once again. I hope to be able to create the same positive, competitive, exciting atmosphere around swimming that I was a part of when I began over twenty years ago, while instilling the passion and drive for lifelong learning both in and out of the water. I am currently coaching the juniors and the swim team.
Swimming has always been a part of my life. i started swimming in my youth in Tiburon and swam competitively locally through my first two years of college. I have been coaching swim teams for over 12 years, across clubs and high schools in Marin. I enjoy open water swims; my favorites are Maui Channel Relay and Trans Tahoe Relay (which include former Scott Valley Swimmers Greg coached), with the most notable to date being an English Channel crossing in 2011. It was my love of swimming and kids that got me involved in coaching and teaching. I was a middle school principal and teacher in Ross for several years, and have always found joy in the teaching experience. I am thrilled to be back to coaching with Scott Valley where I can coach in such a positive and healthy environment. I think it’s fantastic to come back and have the opportunity to co
ach a second generation of Scott Valley swimmers.
Born in Berlin, Germany, I come from competitive cycling. After cycling, I started with triathlon and intensive swim training. Due to my work with USA Cycling development in coaching I got the experience to work with young athletes for many years. To help and improve young passionate athletes brings me joy and fulfillment. Seeing them grow and succeed on their way to becoming young adults is rewarding to me. Additionally, as Head Lifeguard at Scott Valley, it is a good feeling to keep everybody safe and healthy when just enjoying time at the pool.
