Based on the beautiful campus of the Williston Northampton School, the Bluefish Swim Club is a year-round, competitive swimming team offering instruction, training, and competition to young people of all ages and abilities. We are a USA Swimming program, open to all swimmers in the Connecticut River Valley and beyond.

DEVELOPMENTAL/Goldfish The Goldfish Group is our pre-competitive group for K-3rd graders who have completed our Learn-to-Swim program and are ready to learn some competitive skills before joining one of our competitive groups. With practices offered 2-4 times per week (we look for a commitment of at least 2 per week), the group will concentrate on the fundamentals of competitive swimming (rules and regulations), technique and stroke development with an introduction to endurance training in a fun and dynamic environment.

Practices Offered- 2-4/wk

Practice Length- 60-75min

Minimum Required- 2

DEVELOPMENTAL/Minifish The Minifish Group is for K-3rd graders who are ready to train in a team environment 2-3 times per week and begin competing at meets. Emphasis is placed heavily on good technique while learning some basics to prepare athletes for greater success later in the program- understanding how to use the pace clock, proper lane etiquette, picking up the terms and phrases coaches will use, how to read a written practice off the board, meet protocols (talking to coaches before and after races) and beginning to know their times in some races from memory. Practices Offered- 3-5/wk

Practice Length- 75-90min

Minimum Required- 3

ELEMENTARY/Green The Age Group Green Group is for 3rd-6th graders just getting into the sport and aspiring to compete and perform at the Regional and Silver level. Emphasis is placed heavily on good technique while learning some basics to prepare athletes for greater success later in the program- understanding how to use the pace clock, proper lane etiquette, picking up the terms and phrases coaches will use, how to read a written practice off the board, meet protocols (talking to coaches before and after races) and beginning to know their times in some races from memory. Practices Offered- 4-6/wk

Practice Length- 75-90min

Minimum Required- 3

ELEMENTARY/Red The Age Group Red Group is for our 3rd-6th graders who train 3-5 times per week and aspire to compete and perform at the Silver to NE Age Group Champs level. Focus is on building strokes to race 200s of stroke, and the 400 IM / 500 Free. The Red Group is the first-time athletes will be introduced to ‘training’ sets, usually for 15-30 minutes per day. Swimmers will also have been introduced to Dry-land training. Concepts like goal-setting and race-plans will be introduced, and swimmers will be expected to begin placing some priority on the sport of swimming over some other non-family/non-school activities.

JUNIOR/White The Junior White group is for 6th-8th graders who train 3-6 days per week, and are aspiring to compete and perform at the NE Age Group Champs Level. Focus is on building strokes to race 200s of stroke, and the 400 IM / 500 Free. The White Group athletes will continue to do ‘training’ sets for 15-30 minutes per day. Athletes in the White Group will be expected to be able to hear and execute instructions from a coach and take on leadership roles within the group. Swimmers will continue to supplement their swimming with Dry-land training.

Practice Length- 90-135min

JUNIOR/Blue The Junior Blue Group is for 6th-8th graders who've shown a commitment to training 5-6 days a week and are aspiring to compete and perform a NE Age Group Champs level. Athletes in the Blue Group are expected to get their IMX scores each season (swimming all the events at least once) and make swimming their top extra-curricular priority. Swimmers will be exposed to some higher-level training for longer periods of time than in previous groups and will also be expected to know their best times and the correlating paces for practice. Dry-land work also transitions from a learning phase to a key component in their training plan.

Practice Length- 120-150min

Minimum Required- 5

SENIOR/High School The Senior High School (HS) Group is for Bluefish athletes in 9th-12th grade who are looking to balance Bluefish with other school commitments/activities, or continue to train for movement into the National Group, and introduces a more focused training on the events they will be competing in. Athletes will continue to build more efficient, senior swimming technique. Practices will be offered 4 nights a week and, on the weekends, when we are not at meets. Swimmers are expected to attend a minimum of 4 per week (2 when in HS season) and maintain communications with the coaching staff with regards to their schedules.

HS Group will have a separate pricing for December, January, February.  Those swimmers choosing this option will not be able to receive workouts during HS season for use at their HS practices

SENIOR/National The Senior National Group is the top training group on Bluefish. Athletes in the National Group are expected to attend scheduled workouts, eligible training trips and qualified meets, and be focused on progressing to and achieving entry into the highest level of meets they are capable of. Communication between the athletes and the coaching staff is crucial and expected. National Group athletes are expected to show up, work hard and set an example for their younger teammates to follow.

Training Group Pricing and Fee Structures
