Parent Volunteer Officials and Lane Timers (Training Required)
Volunteer opportunities exist for parents to help contribute to our team by becoming an Official. Training is provided, NYCY will be paying for or reimbursing our parent volunteers for registration and course fees. The team could not run without our volunteers, they are GREATLY appreciated.
Officials: All meets require swim officials. Interested people must attend an officials clinic to become certified. Nominal existing swim knowledge is required to become involved as an official.
Lane Timers: For each home meet, the team needs three timers for each lane in the pool. Timing is a fun way to get out of the stands and closer to the swimming action. NYCY provides stopwatches or you may use your own.
Upcoming Officials training class dates will be posted on the "Events" page. Parents interested in volunteering to serve as a Lane Timer or as an Official, please contact us today!

Coaching (Some Experience Preferred)
On deck jobs require dedication to the sport and a more serious time commitment. The volunteer would need to attend special training sessions and have a working knowledge of USA Swimming rules. Examples include:
VOLUNTEER PARENT: Help Coaches out on deck, keep younger swimmers organized during practice and at home meets. Prefer someone with teaching or swimming background.
VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH: Help Coaches out on deck during practices and at away swim meets. Requires background check, Non-Athlete USA Swimming Membership.
